Summer Reward

I consider this my reward for surviving another summer of 100 degree temps, high humidity, chiggers and mosquitoes. It starts with toasted Wheatfields sourdough bread, then a heavy smear of pesto from Mary’s basil, finished with slabs of farmers’ market tomatoes. I’ll dream of this in February when I can’t get my feet warm and I’m eating hard pears from the supermarket.
